Pac-Man Quilt by Happy Zombie

I simply love it when arts aficionados incorporate gaming in to their already awesome projects. With this crisp quilt, Happy Zombie “wanted to have some fun in 8-bit and do something iconic, like 80’s like Pac-man”.  Using paper patterns by Jennifer Ofenstein, who by the way has many more cool patterns in her collection, she created what she thought would give this piece movement.

The white vertical segments enhance the illusion of  Pac-man chomping over the the dots as he makes his way toward Pinky and Inky (here in a green rendition). The idea was to avoid feeling Pac-man was gliding. “Pac-man is not a glider.  Not that there’s anything wrong with gliding”, she explains. The various mod swatches in the center give the piece, not only a more unique element, but also a fresh angle; the fact that we are going to be seeing a lot of mod clothing this spring is just a bonus!
