Call of Duty: Ghosts Trailer Released

After being teased and rumored about for a couple of days now, Infinity Ward has officially announced its next installment in the Call of Duty series entitled Ghosts.  The official Call of Duty Twitter page tweeted on May 1, “RT if you’re ready to see the next generation of Call of Duty” along with a link to the Ghosts Facebook.  Soon after, Infinity Ward tweeted to fans a teaser trailer of the new game.

Little is known from the trailer but here’s an interesting take:

Getting pumped already?

Unfortunately, there’s not much information that we can gather on this new game yet.  The only understanding we have is that it’s going to be about Ghosts. Not the “BOO” kinds, but Ghosts as in the form of those who wear masks in battle to protect us.  Many speculate that the game is based on the fan favorite character Lt. Simon “Ghost” Riley (Modern Warfare 2) who wears the same skull mask.  This teaser trailer has got me pretty intrigued as well as many other Call of Duty fans.

Infinity Ward’s Executive Producer Mark Rubin says;

“Everyone was expecting us to make Modern Warfare 4, which would have been the safe thing to do. But we’re not resting on our laurels.” We saw the console transition as the perfect opportunity to start a new chapter for Call of Duty. So we’re building a new sub-brand, a new engine, and a lot of new ideas and experiences for our players.” –(forbes)

Awesome! Glad to see that they are wanting to step outside of the mold with this new game. There will be a live demo of Call of Duty Ghosts during Microsoft’s Next-Gen Console event on May 21 as confirmed on the main website and at the end of the trailer.  Amazon and GameStop are already offering pre-orders for this game before it’s release date on November 5.

It’s still too soon to get a good feel for the game yet, but we can look forward to hearing more during Microsoft’s event.

What are your thoughts on this new Call of Duty game?
