League of Fighters (LoF) is an upcoming not for profit PC fighting game based on League of Legends, one of the most played MMO games in the world. The 2D fighting game, created by Instaburst, has secretly been in the works for over a year and just received the greenlight from Riot games today.
As for July 16, Riot edited their legal terms of service to include:
“We’ll start with our golden rule – you can use League of Legends IP as the basis for a fan project that you’re giving away for free or that’s only generating ad revenue (we’ll refer to this type of free fan project as a “Project”), as long as you comply with the guidelines outlined below for using our IP (the “Guidelines”). As a matter of fact, as long as you comply with our Guidelines, we think it’s great if you create awesome, free and original content for League of Legends fans.
The LoF gameplay trailer shows anime-style characters depicting League of Legend’s classic champions. From the looks of it, you’re able to have one summoner spell and all of the regular abilities in the game including cooldowns. This trailer shows two Annies against each other with a cameo by Tibbers. The game is made by using the FM2k Engine.
LoF will feature single player, online and local multiplayer. Instaburst plans on implementing Smash controls as well as the ability to play on a keyboard or a stick.
Instaburst is currently looking for help in creating the game. Editors, artists, and typographists are needed. Shoot them an email here: firstname.lastname@example.org
